Clare Smith is an Illinois native. She has been pursing her art career for over 40 years. And on her return to Illinois is 1991 has been involved in many art endeavors. She enjoys working with oils but considers herself a watercolorist, foremost.


Clare is s lifelong student, who has made a practice of taking advantage of many learning opportunities. She availed herself to every art class offered while living in Omaha Nebraska. Through local colleagues. She has studied with Somme of the countries most outstanding watercolorist. Tony Couch Frank Webb, Judi Betts, Judi Wagner, Barbara collages to name a few. She has participated in numerous workshops across the country.

 

Clare was an active participant in the Passageway Gallery in the historic Old Market Area in down town Omaha, Nebraska. She was an enthusiastic member of local and regional clubs and won many awards with her painting in Nebraska Shows.


Upon returning to Illinois Claire was instrumental in organizing the Effingham Art Guild and remains a staunch supporter of the arts in Effingham County and surrounding area, She has conducted numerous workshops.


 

 

Claire's work has been accepted in the "Paint Illinois Exhibition", Fall and Spring Shows of the Bicentennial Art Center and Museum in Paris Illinois. The Annual Wabash Valley Exhibition at Sheldon Swoop[ Art Museum in Terre Haute, Indiana: and the Biennial Southern Illinois Artist Open Competition and Exhibition at the Cedarhurst Mitchell Museum in MT Vernon, Illinois. Her work has also been accepted into three exhibitions at the Sarasota Art Museum in Sarasota Florida, and into the Women Contemporary Artists Annual juried show in Sarasota Florida.
As a member of the Illinois Artisans Program her works are displayed at the Rend Lake Market Place, Rend Lake Illinois. She was accepted to be a Participant in the Art Museum, Sarasota Rental and gift shop, Sarasota, Florida.
