Can you see me?
My interest in art began as a young child in Europe. My father was an authority and avid collector of 17th century Dutch and Flemish paintings. I accompanied him to museums, restorers and like-minded people; and there was always his extensive art library to peruse.
Appreciation was the extent of my activity until 1975, when I opened a small gallery and frame shop near the University of Delaware. That experience was instrumental in getting me directly involved with artists, buying and selling. After retiring to Sarasota in 1998, I had the time to become serious about painting. I became a member at Hilton Leech and Art Center Sarasota, where I took numerous watercolor, acrylic and collage workshops. I was juried into most of the exhibitions, and won some awards.
Lately, with digital photography I’ve been able to satisfy my obsession with cast shadows and reflections. Now I spend as much or more time on photographing as on painting. It has paid off in getting awards and sales.
