Painting on Both Sides of the Brain
Marge says of her work, "My art reflects my life in its search for
happiness in serenity and beauty. I would like to convey an idea or a
point of view rather than a precise representation. At times I enjoy a bit
of whimsy or simple sensual joy in nature, but always with attention to a
balance of shape and color. I believe that art is a matter of the heart
and the head. My heart wants color and light; my head requires balance and
design." Her paintings are sometimes geometric and patterned, sometimes
free flowing and diffused. Always, there is attention to design, form and
color.
Her work has received frequent awards and is found in private and
corporate
collections throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Write-ups
about her painting have appeared in various publications. The review that
pleased her most, and with which she still resonates, was written by Joan
Altabe, Art Critic for the Sarasota Herald Tribune. Ms. Altabe concluded
her highly complimentary article by saying, "That's where art comes in. It
is that precise order that speaks to the sense of oneness when blissfully
serene. Bennett's orchestration of order and ardor, feeling and formalism
dots the "i" and crosses the "t" in the word that describes her: artist."
Marge received her initial training at the Art Institute of South Florida.
Thereafter, she continued her progress by studying with some of the
outstanding watercolor artists throughout the United States. She taught
art classes herself for several years, but stopped teaching because she
felt it was taking too much of her time away from her great love: creating
new paintings,

Art
is Marge's passion and her delight. Although watercolor and acrylics are
her present favored media, she is never afraid to venture into new realms
and is constantly seeking other means of expressing her ideas. Recently
she has become fascinated by the use of a computer to create her paintings
and has begun using that technological marvel as her medium when
appropriate. Whatever her technique, however, her art retains her enduring
love of color, design and balance.
