Sue Turconi holds an M.F.A. from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York. She is a full time artist and free lance educator. Her work has been exhibited extensively. She is included in the public collections of City Hall here in Venice and the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Also the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, Newark Museum in Newark, Bergen Museum of Art & Science in Paramus and Rutgers University in New Brunswick,  all in New Jersey, in addition to private collections throughout the world.

 

 

The artist has received many awards in her career including juried international competitions and exhibitions, specific invitations and juried grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Artist League of Central New Jersey, ART GOES PUBLIC artist in residence programs and others.

 

 

 


Turconi has lectured and taught art history, art appreciation, workshops and studio classes locally and nationally for university, colleges, art centers and various community groups, most recently at Manatee Community College and Venice Art Center.

 


 

In 2005, she was an invited featured speaker at the World Forum Convention Center, the Hague, the Netherlands for the EUROPEAN COUNCIL OF INTERNATIONAL STUDIES (www.ecis.org) at their annual meeting, conference and exhibition. Her  topic: "Break Through Barriers, the Cultural Challenge of Creativity in the World of Art." She spoke on three occasions: as an artist, an educator and a survivor of the world of art and the ivory tower.
