Judy Kramer's involvement in photography began as a simple desire to learn how to frame some travel photographs. After taking several photography courses, she realized that the photographic medium was a fascinating way for her to express her sensitivity towards people and the world around her. Once she stepped into a darkroom, a direction and an intuitive eye started "developing". Judy has been involved in photography since 1978.

The essence of light, and Judy’s sensitivity to it, combine to give her photographs a unique view into the world around us. While design and form play an important role in all art media, the inclusion of these, along with light, is what makes one photograph stand out from many of the others. Judy works primarily in 35mm format and occasionally in medium format.

Travel, nature, and found objects are favorite subjects for Judy to photograph. In addition, she has been photographing 2 and 3 dimensional art for professional artists in her studio.

Judy has won many awards for her photographs and has had numerous one and two person shows in the Washington Metropolitan area, Novgorod, Russia, Modena, Italy and in Southwest Florida.

Each year since November of 1992, Judy has accompanied groups of health care professionals, artists, artisans and performers to Veliky Novgorod, Russia as the official photographer of the Novgorod Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the community of Veliky Novgorod with humanitarian aid, improved communications, education and cultural exchanges. Her photographs from these trips have captured the interest of many and have helped generate the support of many private sector businesses and individuals.

In Sarasota, Judy is represented by the Katharine Butler Gallery.
