A New York native, Virginia Salerni grew up in Rockville Center, N.Y.
where she had extended art classes through he school years and was
privileged to work with many talented teachers. She both worked and showed
at Staten Island Museum.
Virginia moved to Sarasota, Fl where she has been inspired by her
association with The Ringling School of Art, Hilton Leech Studio and Women
Contemporary Artists
.
Her images are abstract expressions of nature’s moods. She works on paper
with inks, acrylics and watercolor, all of which give contrast and
vitality to her work. To the observer her paintings are awash with colors
and spiced with the artist’s yen to create visually exciting pieces which
liven the senses.
Artist’s statement
The painting surface controls its own ambience, its own growth and its own
combat. However, the Artist would like to the viewer to have a sense of
nature with natural forces traveling through the painting.
